Nothing unusal about the mate. I didn't read the game, but it's more than common to get your K stuck in poo against your own pieces in the middle of the board!!
There was another one lurking in there. A nice 3 piece mate.
(have to start it off with a White move 'cos Black cannot move first from a PGN set up position).
