In a game my opponent has timed out but is only one move from checkmate. i have decided to let him win the game because i would actually feel bad about clicking the skull...

What would any one else do...reasons for and against clicking the skull

Why don't you resign so you can get another game going immediately?

Go for the "Jugular vein" mate! skull him! that'll teach him not to dwindle and drag his knuckles when he is 1 move from mate.
I say, show no mercy and take no prisoners.!!! BRING HIM DOWN TO HIS KNEES!!! 😲

LOL I'm just joking really!. Its entirely up to you bro. I think it would be in the interest of the game not to skull him but to give him time play and see if he notices that mate in 1. GL 🙂

By the way, I wanted to see what it felt like saying what I did in the 1st paragraph......Crazy!
🙄 and I'm not schitsophrenic........me neither.........nor am I.......ROFL

I would click the skull because if my opponent was one move away from checkmate, not to be cheap or nothin but they're responsible for making moves on time. If they can't do that, they deserve to lose on time. I say take a win where you can get it.

If you were playing OTB, would you wait for your opponent to checkmate you even after his time has expired and then allow him to report the win to the TD? Click the skull, click the skull, click the skull...

I suspect that TRCF's opponent is a psychologist who's trying to find out if chivalry is really dead on the internet. Of course, most of us already know the answer to that question...

When time is out, time is out. In chess, time is a very important part of the game. It is a bit different at correspondence chess online, but nevetherless; you have an agreement, on beforehand, regulating your limits. Look for instance on this game Game 2405768, where Everyday (2328) loses on movetimeout to jfkjmh (2136) when Everyday, in move, is only one move from mating his opponent.

Personally I would like to behave politely, not clicking skull. But it might depend on setting in tournament and relation to the opponent.
