It's solid choice and often leads to favorable kings gambit lines.

This guy takes the Vienna to a whole new level:

Crazy traps! He actually has his own 'Immortal Game' as well.

It also leads to the double-edged Frankenstein-Dracula variation, 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Nxe4 4.Qh5 Nd6 5.Bb3 Nc6 6.Nb5 g6 7.Qf3 f5 8.Qd5 Qe7 9.Nxc7+ Kd8 Nxa8.

I don't really know much about the Vienna Game, but maybe I'll give it a shot too. How does play generally continue in the Vienna Gambit if black accepts the pawn? (1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 exf4 4. e5 Ng8....)

3... exf4 is a bad move.
leading to a very favourable line of the KG

all experts prefer 3. ..d5!

What do you mean when you say it's unpretentious?
Unambitious?

There are both extremely quiet and very wild lines in the Vienna depending on the two players' choices. An example of a quiet line is 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.g3 Nc6 4.Bg2 Bc5 while 1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.f4 exf4 4.Nf3 g5 5.d4 g4 6.Bc4 gxf3 is clearly a pretty hairy gambit line.

I play it aggressively. And man it's been making some games nearly as fun as the fried liver attack!

Typically
1 e4 e5
2 Nc3 Nc6
3 f4 exf4
4 d4

has been good for me as white. ...Qh4!? i think is overrated as 5 Ke2 is enogh to stop black's undeveloped pinch.

Better for black is
2 ... Nf6
3 f4 d5! (good freeing move)
4 d3 ef!? (leads to interesting complications, in which often black disrupts white's king, but it allows white further developement anyways)

i.e.
5 e5 d4
6 Ne2 Nd5
7 Bxf4 Nxf4
8 Nxf4 Bb4+
9 Kf2 etc

The better tactician usually wins these games, although in OTB the gambits probably work well for white if he knows them.
