anyone uses it?
It seems to be quite difficult to use it without getting in trouble

I've never heard of it, can you give the variation? Most of these obscure lines aren't very good - otherwise they wouldn't be obscure.

it s more interesting to see the whole thing:
here is the Zip I found in salasnet.com, the format is for sigma thought...

well i guess after the line you give, black would be moving his N twice in the first 3 moves, violating one of the opening rules. also, black might have problems developing his pieces, esp. his bishops.

but then again, alekhine's defense makes black move his N a couple of times as well...

The Vulture is part of the Benoni family along with the Hawk and the Woozle. Of the three Buecker inventions the Hawk is probably the best as the Vulture and the Woozle definitely do not equalize. Probably the Hawk might not either, but I don't know of a direct refuation for it. The Hawk goes

1. d4 c5
2. d5 Nf6
3. Nf3 c4

Weird, but relatively interesting. Some with big balls should give it a try and report back what happened to them on this thread!

Dave....PS, my balls are tiny....

Interesting, but does it have an ECO I can refer to?

I tried to initiate it but my opponent stubbornly refused to advance to d5. Here is the game so far:

Just out of interest do you have any thoughts regarding development and overall strategy when people dont advance to d5?

As in the game ive linked I kind of just developed and waited for an opening or weakness to present itself.

It's in A56 with the Czech Benoni. http://www.abortionessay.com/eco/a.txt

Well, you can't force your opponent to advance to d5. usually in the Benoni, the d5 advance is automatic. You can only play this stuff opportunistically. You can't start thinking you are going to play the Hawk, the Vulture or the Woozle. If you think you want to play these things you probably need to know the Tarrasch Defense to the Queen's Gambit because that is the most likely transposition and you don't want to waste time fooling around waiting for him to do something he is not going to do. Black does not have these luxuries. The Tarrasch is very popular, a good defense and there is a lot of information available on it in books or various chess internet sites. Google Tarrasch Defense and it will probably come right up.

So do you feel that in the abscence of white advancing to d5 black should strongly considering doing so sooner rather than later?

Obviously you play the board but as a general principle in this situation?
