Game 3285252
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. 0-0 Nxe4 6. d4 b5 7. Bb3 d5 8. dxe5 Be6 9. c3 Bc5 10. Nbd2 0-0 11. Bc2 f5 12. Nb3 Ba7 13. Nfd4 Nxd4 14. Nxd4 Bxd4 15. cxd4 f4 16. f3 Ng3 17. hxg3 fxg3
Up until move 18, this should be called the 'Le Grande Variation' and it would continue as such:
18. Qd3 Bf5 19.Qxf5 Rxf5 20. Bxf5 Qh4 21. Bh3 Qxd4+ 22. Kh1 Qxe5
Now, once GinoJ deviated form the main line, I tried to take advantage of the situation, was it sound? How would it have continued if he hadn't resigned do you think? I would have tried to promote the pawn myself, but was there anything he could have done to prevent it? I certainly can't see it.
Could his pawn on e5 have been a problem perhaps?
20. ...Bg4 is another possible move I could make
..maybe...
Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

The game was actually all theory until white's move 21Qd2.Your sequence of moves 21.Rxf3 22Kd2 Qxg2 23Kd1 Rf2 is sound and probably the best in the position.
After Rf2 white can't play Bxf2 because he'll loose the rook on e1 and black will be up 2 pawns with a crushing position, so he has to move the queen with 24Qc3(24Qd3 threatening h7 is bad because of Bf5 and black will win material) after which black can continue his attack and has a number of attractive candidate moves:24Raf8,24Rf1,24Qf3+,24Bg4+ maybe even 24 b4, I'm not sure which is better, probably 24Raf8 bringing another piece into the attack. Black has very active pieces and 3 pawns for a piece with a very dangerous passed pawn, I'd say black is better, maybe even winning.20Bg4 doesn't look as good as Bh3 because it's not as forcing and allows Bg1 which drives blacks queen from it's active position.
I also have a question, I played the same line in our game up till move 10 I believe, where I choose Qd3, and you deviated from theory with 10Nxf2?, why didn't you follow theory and played such a dubious move that tries to punish white although white didn't do anything wrong.
Originally posted by omulcusobolaniNo, that was a different variation altogether, it's called the Dilworth attack.
