Tell them that you forgot your medications that morning, but you think you'll be OK 😉

pretend you are playing online:

> Have an imaginary mouse. Make clicking sounds.
> "wipe" the space in front of you, as if it were a monitor.

I always liked to make a move and "forget" to start my opponents clock. Some of them really got distracted by that. Another variation is to sit for 5 minutes, then look at you clock and say "Is it my move" and make two moves in a row. Drives them crazy.

Another cool trick when the opponent is in time pressure is moving a pawn 2 squares at once after it has already moved. Getting a pawn from a4 to a6 in one moves really gives the king a workout if it has to chase it down. Most people won't even notice if they are worried about a flag that is about to fall.

If your opponent sees it, they get an extra minute on their clock so be careful!

You guys are all crazy.
Anyway, the best way to freak out an opponent is to discuss the inevitability and finality of death.

it does bug me when my opponent doesn't press the clock after he moves but i'm not a jerk and i kindly remind them...however if they continue to do that then i jsut sit there sometimes and thinking about the position and waste their clock time.... and if thier clock runs out to bad...next time i might even just walk away and look at other games till the press my clock 🙂 that will teach them......

and the person who wrote i don't press the opponent's clock...its u're time u're wasting u know.... i wouldn't recommended that strategy...

hehe.. omg i just remebered the funniest thing... we had a discussion on scoresheets on our yahoo groups site, and one of the ppl from our club went to a tourney outside of edm. he was around 27 or so i guess and his rating was around 1600 or so....he was playing this junior and the junior was pretty good, better then the guy...so anyways they sat down and the junior wrote the guys name and rating and besides that he wrote....WEAK!! that's pretty harsh and rude but regards less.... we had a laugh about it and it sure makes u want to beat that person....

It is a violation of the rules and the spirit of the game to annoy your opponent. I would never do such a thing.[/b]
I agree! And nobody should be using tactics to annoy their opponent
