A year ago in the U.S. Championship Wes So was awarded a
default for writing encouraging notes to himself during a game.
Harmless but against the rules. He was warned twice then when
playing Akobian after 6 moves Akobian told the arbiter So was writing
to himself. "Concentrate", "Watch my time." kind of thing.
(he should have wrote - 'Do no write notes to myself.' )
The Arbiter defaulted Wes.

A look at the 22....Re8 variation.
I had no idea it was against the rules to write something on score sheet besides the moves.
I am used to from time to time turn the sheet and write something down on its backside so as to remember for my writing.
(A memo or something.)
When I got published travelogue that included also accounts from Malta Open 2014 on www.e-novine.com, I used some of those notes. Luckily my opponents didn't know that either so they didn't call umpire in.

One is "lectures by Varuzhan Akoboian" there's some good stuff on there - at least 70 lectures last time I looked and the other is "the chess network" on you tube.
The refreshing thing about the chess network site is that the guy showing his games sometimes loses!!
