The rollercoaster of progress. We've all been there. 🙂

@mchill

When I study I instantly go into a slump and make worse than average moves...
Apparently a lot of people experience this and then after some time I end up a stronger player.

I imagine it is because I started as an adult and my brain takes longer to absorb chess. I don't know 🤷

@Contenchess

I have a notion that a little bit of learning can sometimes act like mental blinders (or tinted glasses) that make it more difficult to see and play the board.

Not so sure the "blinders" is the proper description. What happens to me is I evaluate everything in light of what I just learned and try to apply it even when it might not be appropriate to the position I'm looking at.

I agree with both of you 👍

I'm the same way.
I imagine a lot of people are.

100% correct. JMHO - it takes our brains some time to process all the information we've absorbed as a result of our study, but in time we do, and in the long run end up stronger players.
