To be honest no one knows what happens. No one who's clicked the resign button has lived to tell the rest of us what it's like.
If we hear no reply from you in the next 24hrs we will assume you clicked the button and the site owner will contact your next of kin.
almost there.
I don't know the age of the original poster, but if he or she is young these may not seem pleasant responses. Even if he or she is older all that he or she will have learnt is not to ask honest questions in the Only Chess Forum.
Some of the posts were creative and funny, but that does not make them appropriate.

Hi Mate,
If you are getting beaten and there is no hope at all of saving the
game then as a sign of respect to your opponet you resign.
The game will end and the result will logged both on your site
and your opponents.
Some players never resign and play on until they are checkmated.
This is not bad manners. They feel differently about resigning
because sometime in their past an opponent has played a complete
howler in the final part of the game and turned a win into a loss or a draw.
Winning a won game can be tricky and you need to stay alert.
Look at this position from a game I saw a few months ago.
It is Black to play. He is lost but he saw one last chance.
Black played 1...Rc2 pinning the Queen to the King.
White agreed a draw because after 2.Qxc2 it is a stalemate.
However White should have played 2.Qc6! and then after 2...Rxc6+
3.Kxc6 the passed h-pawn promotes.
So it's up to you, play on or resign.
I cannot give advise about a game in progress.
Hope this helps.
