The positional game for intermediates in correspondence is so underrated.

Was it Alekine that said something like, one only acquires the chance of winning tactics because he chooses to put himself in that position.

Maybe he said it himself, too, but the most well-known quote to that effect is from Spielmann: "Give me Alekine's positions, and I will rarely fail to find the combination. But I always get into drawing positions, even if I play the king's gambit!"
