I swear it's compulsive... recently I've had this crazy desire to give away my pieces.. even without compensation.. I just do everything to give my stuff away. Call it sacrifice, call it stupid... it's wierd.

you were not behind there, and the sacrafice seemed perfectly sound for the attack... I thought Black may have had slightly better luck with the queen on f8, freeing the rook...
let's see, then you'd play Raf1 and then he can't exchange because then your rook attacks the queen and the queen can't go anywhere...
so, after Raf1, maybe Kh8?
I don't know...
you've probably got it won either way...
no doubt Crafty is already being used...

The only word of caution is to avoid sacrifices where you are already in a winning position unless you can accurately calculate a forced winning line, as such recklessness is unnecessary in a won game. On the other hand if you are losing a sacrifice that might be dubious but gives you chances of counterplay is worth playing as the worst that can happen is you lose a lost game quicker.

In the first game, why not 15..Rxf5! 16. Rxf5 gxf5 17. Bh6 Qf8, defending easily after the obvious 18..Kh8 to come. Maybe I missed something. 😀
