Hey all,
I'm playing a game where, I've made a STUPID oversight at the beggining of my game but I've stuck it out. I'm now in a situation where I'd been trying for a draw or surprise checkmate or Something.

Well the 3 repeated move rule occured but as the AI didn't force it my opponent is denying that its a draw. I know its low, but as we are
matching blunder against blunder I feel its even.
I've offered a draw with a rematch, but no he won't take.

Is there something I can do?

You have to claim a draw (right there over Resign) if there's a 3 move repetition and you have to do it at that time, not later in the game. See Help, FAQ, When Can You Claim a Draw. So play your game out!

The rule is: threefold repetition without a pawn or piece capture. This also incudes,it has to be the same side to move(this is often forgotten). In that game, you reached three times the same position, with the same side to move, but the first time there was a pawn capture.Hence,I think you can't claim a draw.

When it is possible to claim a draw, you have an additional 'claim draw' link which is different, obviously, than the 'offer draw' link. For repetition you must claim it, it won't just give it to you 😉

I am pretty sure it is immaterial if a piece or pawn was captured on the first move of the threefold. The offical rule is that the same position arises three times in a game, each time with the same side having the move, and each time with all possble legal moves for both sides (i.e., castling, en passant) being the same.

You're quite right.I mixed up the threefold and the 50 move rule.My mistake 😳

Where did the follow up thread to this one disappear to? The one where you had been bullied into accepting a draw by your opponent because of his stupidity and lack of skill? If that whole thread was modded then something is gone haywire with HAL (aka mod-bot).

I read it this morning and got really mad, that somebody would do that, but when I got back this afternoon to post, it had disappeared. I'm even madder now to see that his abusive behaviour resulted in him salvaging a draw out of a lost game.

If some idiot tries to force you to draw, after u gain an advantage due to good play by u, and crap play by him (no such thing as cheap tricks in chess), tell him/her to shove it. And then tell him to send a challenge to Gambitzoid, he's all into trying to force people to draw/resign when HE thinks they should.
