What's the line after 1.fxe5 Bxe5 2.Rxe5 fxe5?
e.g.
3. Rd2 Qxd2
4. Qxe5+ Kh6
5. Qf4+ Kh5
6. Be2+ etc
I keep trying to play the Rd2 sac in the other lines, but I can't find anything which works.
I think the simple exchange sac must be the answer. White doesn't have a forced win, but all his pieces are wonderfully placed (his remaining rook will end up on d7).
I assume you mean Rd7 - yes that looks like the most powerful followup. 3.Qxe5 also wins, which is what my opponent (Cinco) played.
1.fxe5 Bxe5 2.Rxe5 fxe5 3.Rd7!! Qxd7 4.Qxe5+ Kf8 5.Qh8+ Ke7 6.Bf6+ Kd6 7.Qf8+ Kc6 8.Qc5#
The game just ended; I've not yet checked this combination with a computer. Maybe there's a hole somewhere.
Now comes the tricky part - where did I go wrong? At this point I suspect 6 ... d5.
