Whats with this rating system?

First off, I want to get it clear that I'm not putting down this system, I just don't understand some parts. The biggest part being, why does my rating get lower when I beat a player with a lower rating than me. I cannot help it if I join a tourney or a clan member puts someone with a lower rating up against me, so why should our ratings get weaker. I can understand not giving us 30 points when we beat someone with a rating that is 500 less than ours, but we should get no point or 1 to 2 points added. It's not fair to the person with a high rating to get punished for winning. Please tell me what you think.😏

It's because your rating is still provisional.Very weird things can happen to provisional ratings 😕
