According to this site, David Tebb's Kasparov number is three 😕.
So that wouldn't include simul games.
Nor, similarly, ICC bullet games, etc.
Probably if it did include those kinds of games, most people's Kasparov rating would be 2 or 3.
Originally posted by TommyCYeah, mine is 3 under those rules - I beat Alexs Wojtkiewicz in blitz, who has a number of 2. If I used tournament games, it would probably be a very big number. Actually, as I type that, I just realized that maybe it's not:

Robert Sulman has a Kasparov number of 3. He's played at the same chess club as me from time to time. Another player at our club, who we call "Master Killer" has actually beaten Sulman twice, even though he's just a 1500 player. I've beaten this other player, giving me a number of 5. Not too bad! 🙂

Interesting. I searched for Alex Yermolinsky and found that he beat Kasparov in Leningrad in 1975. I did not know that. 🙂
It seems whilst he's beaten Kasparov, he's lost to just about everybody else!

David Tebb from this site is listed with a number of 3...
but if my memory still works, I seem to remember him beating Kasparov in a Simul in 1990......
David may be able to confirm/deny this??
Btw - please bother to read the rest of the thread. In the 7 replies before yours (not a lot) this already came up.
I have a Kasparov number of 6 (Through Brian Keogh's 5 score). Of course I beat Brian before he made a sudden leap in his chess, but a win is a win and a Kasparov score of 6 is a Kasparov score of 6. My route also includes the 1975 victory of Alex Yermolinsky.
Hey, Did you know that David Tebb from RHP has a Kasparov score of..... ha ha only kidding.
Originally posted by TommyCI've read the whole thread again, Tommy, and still see no mention of Davids win against K. A slightly cryptic note exists, but this doesn't actually say that David beat K......

Maybe this has been discussed previously at RHP and if so, I apologise, I am relatively new to the site.......
I remember that simul as I also played in it.......didn't win though :'(
Originally posted by CityblueIt has been discussed several times. And yes, David Tebb beat Kasparov in the 1989 simul, which was actually game of the day feb 27 this year: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1311655

Edit #2: My Kasparov number is infinite. Damned, if only I had beaten Curt Hansen (I was heavily beaten), my number would have been 2!
