About 2 years ago I posted a link here by I.M. Kostya Kavutskiy on this subject. Now he and 2 of his counterparts rank the monetary effectiveness of books, online sites, tournaments, quality chess sets, classes, individual coaching, online programs etc. They don't always agree, but this updated vid. might be of some interest. 🙂
