    Edit: Ironically, the forced mate in 257 is only possible if Black neglects to claim a draw by the 50-move rule. It is possible, though not very likely, that he would fail to make the claim.

    No captures, or Pawn moves = 50 move rule.....

    I'm sure white could capture or move something so as to avoid the draw in such a manner.....
