    Not only did he refuse to play him in 1930 he thereafter refused to play in any tournaments that Capa was playing in.

    There were personal problems between those two players. Alekhine felt insulted by Capablanca. This is not the first time a insult taken cost a player a tiltle chance. Lasker was insulted by Tarrasch and did not grant him a title match for many years. When he did play for the title he was older and a weaker player.
