From time to time, you will see a game with so many crucial errors from both sides,
it is a wonder how wins can come about from seemingly lost positions.
In this game I am black.
You may have to invert board to see things from blacks point of view.
(I hope the annotations and my occasional usage of Fritz for analysis is ok lol)
1. d4 Ng8f6 2. Ng1f3 e6 3. Bc1g5 Bf8e7 4. e3 d6 5. Bf1e2 Bc8d7 6. O-O {Fritz suggested h6 for black here, but I wanted to save that for later} 6... c5 {I instead aimed to disrupt the center, but there was little planning beyond pawn exchanges.} 7. dxc5 dxc5 8. Nb1c3 a6 {Nc6 was probably better here... I was very slow/passive during this game's opening} 9. Be2d3 h6 10. Bg5h4 {h4 was possibly the wrong square. I now planned on pushing that bishop to g3 where I could exchange for doubled pawns} 10... Be7d6 11. e4 {Threatening e5} 11... Nb8c6 {The sleepy knight, probably woken up from a hangover, finally comes in to assist} 12. Rf1e1 g5 {I guessed that if white moved e5 now, I could exchange on that square and then play gxh4. I'd be a pawn up but would have weaknesses no doubt} 13. Bh4g3 {But there is no e5, so my plan comes together, yay!} 13... Bd6xg3 14. hxg3 Qd8c7 {One eye still on e5, but another eye is on 0-0-0} 15. e5 Nf6g4 {Right, great, I have 3 pieces attacking e5 to white's 2 defending} 16. a3 {So now I can take the pawn} 16... Nc6d4 {Erm... huh? I have no idea why I played this. I tell ya, that knight must have had a sore head or something} 17. Nf3xg5 {And now there's a discovered attack on g4... may the carnage ensue} 17... Ng4xf2 18. Ng5xe6 Bd7xe6 19. Kg1xf2 c4 20. Bd3f1 {Fritz suggested Be4 was better, and gave black a score of -2.68... but i'm rubbish, so this doesn't matter} 20... O-O-O 21. Qd1c1 {Dodges the rook and protects c2} 21... Be6f5 {Now hitting twice} 22. Qc1f4 {But I have weak c4 and f7 pawns, and white still has a potentially dangerous pawn on e5, which I should have dealt with ages ago} 22... Bf5e6 {By moving the bishop back to a holding position, I free my queen for better uses} 23. Ra1c1 Qc7c5 24. Qf4e3 Rh8g8 {Wanted to see Qxh6 here to allow Nf5+, but that was fairytale thinking} 25. Nc3e4 {Instead white allows Qxe5} 25... Qc5xe5 26. c3 Nd4f5 {The drunken knight makes himself useful for a change} 27. Qe3c5 {Forces the ladies off} 27... Qe5xc5 28. Ne4xc5 Rd8d2 {I didn't want a double hit on my bishop, so played this first before taking on g3} 29. Re1e2 Rd2xe2 30. Bf1xe2 Nf5xg3 31. Be2f3 {But I missed b7 falling} 31... Kc8c7 32. Bf3xb7 Kc7b6 33. Nc5xe6 fxe6 {Zero pawn structure + a drunken knight... there may be trouble ahead} 34. Bb7f3 h5 35. Rc1e1 Rg8g6 36. Re1e5 h4 37. Kf2e3 Ng3f5 {Least I can do is defend c4, and maybe I can eke out a draw} 38. Ke3e4 Nf5d6 39. Ke4d4 Rg6f6 40. Re5h5 a5 {This allows Ke5, the best move for white according to Fritz, who at this point scores white at +3.11} 41. a4 {But we don't see that} 41... Rf6f8 42. Kd4e5 {Only now it happens... we both must have seen it one move too late} 42... Nd6f5 {If Kxe6, then Ng7+ and the rooks can be traded, allowing the drunk knight to bear down on the b2 pawn} 43. Rh5h7 {But white doesn't bite} 43... Rf8e8 44. Bf3g4 {Red light comes up on Fritz... Rg8 here and black still has drawing chances} 44... Nf5e3 {But instead, the dozy mare has one final bright idea} 45. Rh7xh4 Ne3xg4 46. Rh4xg4 {A comfortable winning endgame for white?} 46... Kb6c5 47. Rg4g6 {Claims the e pawn, but} 47... Re8b8 {has allowed black one last chance to find something} 48. g4 Rb8xb2 49. Rg6xe6 Rb2c2 50. g5 Rc2xc3 51. g6 Rc3g3 {Planning to eventually sac the rook for the 2 pawns, which is a theoretical draw if played accurately} 52. Ke5f5 Kc5b4 53. Kf5f6 Kb4xa4 54. g7 Ka4b3 {A harsh blunder. White should have played Re3+ here, forcing rook takes, then queening on g8} 55. Kf6f7 {But white also missed it, allowing the sac} 55... Rg3xg7 56. Kf7xg7 c3 {Now Rb6+ here and we draw} 57. Re6e3 {The final howler... white resigned after a4} 57... a4 0-1
I tried to be as instructional as a Patzer can possibly be 🙂
My apologies if I stated the obvious too many times lol
I think RHP members self annotated site games should make up a significant proportion of the threads in this forum and we don't really see enough of it. Well done and thanks for taking the time to prepare and post the game. A couple of nice ideas explained (whether they were missed during play or not).

Seconded and thumbs up to the op. This is how it should be done and not just a list of moves with no comments.
