ive been trying to make a position with the whole board controlled by whites army minus the pawns, this is as close as ive gotten, can anyone tell me if its possible without the pawn?

i know its not legal, just pretend the black king isnt there. its a composition for lack of a better word.

all this got me thinking, for the past hour I've been trying to cover all 64 squares with the least amount of material possible.

its quite tricky, but if you allow pawns you can just use them to plug the gaps. ... so far the best is 3pwns 1Q, 2R, 2B, 1K..

did you replace the knight on h1 with 2 pawns g1 and h2, or something else? neat idea, you would think the knight since its worthe 3 pawns would do the job of 3 but a knight can only be in 1 place at a time. edit, oh just realised k probably refered to king. mind posting the position?

No it isn't. Just the standard definition. You don't necessarily control a square you have a piece on. Think, if the black king were next to it, could it be taken?
