He resigned, it looked grim on the suface grim but his position full of potential.
I'm Black. (3 minute game)

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. e3 {I like seeing this, I get a KID a tempo up when they push onto e4.} 3... Bg7 4. Bd3 O-O 5. Qc2 d6 6. Nc3 e5 7. Nf3 Nc6 8. d5 Nb4 9. Qe2 Nxd3+ ...[text shortened]... Nf5+ Kg6 31. Nh7+ Kxh7 32. Rg7+ Kh8 33. Rxf7+ Kg8 34. Nh6# {Three bits always mate.} [/pgn]
On move 16 white did Rd1, instead he had Nxe5, which neatly defends both the queen and the bishop, but can't be taken as the queen is en-prise; problem is that after 16. ... Qc8 he's got nothing better than 17. Nf3 when you can move your queen back and play for the fork and the missing black pawn may be a plus for you. It's probably not great in a classical time limit game, but in a 3 minute game an opponent may not see Qc8 and swap queens which is definitely not in black's interests.
Hi Deep Thought,
We had over two minutes left each whilst he was pondering on his resignation.
(That is the joy of playing a KID in blitz, the moves are easy to see.)
It was then I spotted what a lot of bother I had coming my way.
The line I gave is no way forced, White can keep the position closed
and build up without slower.
After the game I just dropped it into Winboard and that was the first
line I played with no idea other than to rush things across to the Kingside
and mate. Nice finish too good to just clear the board and move on.
A nice White to play and mate combo.
A good spot by you but then my Re8 is back to being a tempo gainer
again and I sac my Queen instead. ( 😉 )
