Practice/study chess 4-6 hours everyday, and I can't even keep a low 1500 rating on crummy Yahoo Chess, PATHETIC!

Guys, who cares if you suck SOMETIMES, I suck ALL THE TIME. I practice/study chess 4-6 hours everyday, yet I can't even keep a rating above 1500 on Yahoo, and lose to ppl who merely play the game an hour a day at most, for fun, it's totally unfair and I guess god just hates me, I never get rewarded for hard work, NEVER!

chill ! If you are practicing chess for over 4 hours a day and arent getting better, its because you are studying the wrong way or stuff, for a start dont play on yahoo, its full of muppets, you will never learn any great chess from it.

Well, those "muppets" are kicking my butt, that's the DISGUSTING thing about it, I DESERVE TO WIN, NOT THEM! But nooooooooo, all my 12 chess books I read, totally useless, god rewards the lazy, as usual. . . I NEVER get better, I've been stuck in the same NOOB SPOT I DON'T DESERVE, since forever. I don't even know how I lose anymore to be honest, I always seem to have a better position, but lose anyways.

I am UNCAPABLE of learning, god made me a useless hunk of dumb cells that cannot learn. The harder I work, the harder I fall, it's frustrating. Obviously I am gaining NOTHING from the studying I have done, I am incapable of geting anything from studying, school/chess, it's all the same, F***!

Here's a thought...admittedly not a great one...and it is kindly meant....What if you tried to lose every game? Since you play so badly (your opinion, not mine), maybe you could learn from attempting to lose every game?

Just a thought....

My point is, if I am only rated 1400 on Yahoo, then my ELO rating is what? 1200's after reading 12 chess books? PATHETIC!

Argh 😛 Its not about reading books iv only read maybe 6 chess books certainly no where near 12. Go find the mentor post and poke someone who takes your fancy on it. A lot of advice given in books is bo***x anyway. When i first started chess i can remember being told "Look at Grandmaster games" so i did and i looked and was very confused and didnt know what i was looking for or why anyone looked at them. Another good one is "Play the Italian game" where they neglect to tell you to avoid Giuoco Pianissimo or how to get a more intresting game.

depends what kind of time controls you are using at yahoo. i'm rated less than 1000 at bullet chess but around 1500 at correspondence chess.

From your other posts, it sounds like you've been spending a lot of time learning/practicing in some areas (eg positional play) and not so much on others (eg tactics, which you seem to consider the weapon of lazy people). I don't know about Yahoo, but a rating of 1500+ here isn't too bad - you can't be doing everything wrong! I suggest you to identify specific weaknesses from your losses, and then work on them.

As greyeyes said, you could try picking up a mentor on RHP - there are plenty of friendly people out here, and some of them are quite good at chess as well!

ive been playing on icc for years and haven't gotten much past 1500. Don't forget the other players are improving too. Not everything remains static while you get better and better. Keep playing and pretty soon you'll notice new players coming on that don't have your experience and then you'll get better. its all relative.
