just fyi fellow redhotpawners...thought you might enjoy this master level 4-move 'odd but true' chess game from the 1920's...which i gleaned from the classic book The Fireside Book of Chess/Chernev & Reinfield, 1949......
..anyway, one of the shortest master games of all times, according to the authors (4 moves!?!).
Queen's Pawn Opening, Paris 1924
White : Lazard
Black: Gibaud
1. d4.....Nf6
2. Nd2.....e5
3. dxe5.....Ng4
4. h3....Ne3(!)
And white resigned. He is threatened with the loss of his Queen. If he takes the Knight with his pawn, 5.....Qh4 forces checkmate.

We have something similar on RHP. Games 199752 to 199756. 5 times Looserlover was checkmated by Phantom21 after 4 moves. Maybe that was not masterlevel, but it is impressive, 5 times in the same way!!!

Right you are!
As for quick games.... they do happen, and it's amusing, but it's pretty far from the lofty ideal of chess that I think we'd all prefer our games to strive for. It's hard to feel good about a game that hinges solely on an opening trap. That's why I won't play speed chess.

Originally posted by ZapsIt is a bit unfair. But for all we know, it could be that they're really friends in real life and the one who's lost 5 consecutive games is just really bad at chess. I say that, if he really is playing against himself, we all challenge him to chess matches and kick his rear down to the 900 rating he deserves.
Isn't that a bit stupid trying to boost your rating like that?
