NO.
If you put shredder, fritz, chessmaster 10 zillion or whatever program you have in a "personality" or any other weaker mode, then it doesn't mean doodly.
Play the program straight up as God intended. Crippling it's thinking process to win proves nothing.
Keep your program in it's strongest mode and reduce it's thinking time. If you can beat it at 5 seconds a move (you take as long as you want), then go on from there.
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. But he could not sleep, so he got up again and created Shredder. And he created it with personalities and other options which would weaken its playing strength, but he did not intend anyone to use these features.

I gave Fritz 7 to a friend, telling him that it was basically unbeatable at 5 seconds/move, and he came back and told me that he WON a game after a few weeks. He's a very weak player, so I was confused, to say the least.
He was so proud that he showed me a print out of the final position, and I noticed that he was playing one of the other engines fritz offers in "friend" mode, where it warns you of blunders and suggests moves.
Yet he is now convinced that he can beat Fritz on a good day. Jebus....I didn't have the heart to tell him.
