Hi Trev.

I've seen that game before I played it out last year.
I'm sure there is a post about it somewhere.

You hung on in there and if he is just going to play bad chess then he did
not desrve to win. He needs to do an afternoon just on Knight forks.

Again the instructive moment is Nc7+ grabbing a poxy cornered Rook.
(as in your game).

They head for this square like a moth to a flame.

He has a slightly better move than 12.Nc7+

But these are missed tactical shots. Not an attack.

That game was not a poor attack, it was lousy chess technique, a whole
different subject.

My understaning of an attack is to assualt the enemy King position.

I'll clarify.

When under 2000 play the person attacking the other guys King
has the advantage because they can make a mistake attacking and still win

One error defending your King....Doom.

That is the blunder I'm talking about. Not missing a simple tactic.

How many games between under 2000 players on here have you seen
where an unsound piece sac works. 100's.

How many games have you seen where the attack without a sac should
have failed but the defender cocked it up. 1,000's.

How many games have you seen where the player should have attacked
the King but missed it and lost. 100's.

So attack at all costs, place your opponent in Blunderland where one
false slip and he treads on a mine.

As for poor defending, the number of missed mates in one against oneself
on here is incredible.

Look at the other game I had to play against the same opponent whose game
I gave in the previous thread.

This time I'm Black and drift into a shocking opening.
I saw what was going on the other game and waited for the blunder.
It was a long time coming.

White attacked and then suddenly stopped?
If I had been White v me I think I would have won.

I would have prevented my e5. (Nf3) and then stromed through.

My only game plan then , as in all games, get to their King, get to their King.

This is where the minor blunders are the most critical. Get to their King.

(attack at all costs - practice what you preach)

It's not often you see me on here digging in and defending. I don't do it.

The instructive trap is my 24...c5 played to give my Bishop a flight square
but also to set up a Nd4 sac.

My opponent would have seen the first reason and no doubt expected 25...Bc6.
after their 25.e4.

But 25.e4? and hello f4 for the Knight, I'm better.
The ½ hearted attack that follows is dealt with and I win the Queen.

However you will still see me running my King to safety. I could see all
kinds of tricks for them and I did not want to walk into one.

On the other hand, a misplayed attack can be fatal too. Lots of mistakes here of course (3/0) starting with 10... 0-0 ?? I saw Nxd4 immediately after attacking. White misplayed his attack a couple of times, first by playing Qd3+ rather than h4 and second by 14. Q43 rather than Qg3.

Hi Zeb.

Yeah Qg3 was good. He missed it.

(Opening post - 'Tactical ability. No.1 criteria.'😉

For everyone of those I can show 10 that should not have worked but did.

Checkout the RHP games database games under 1400.

And this was a blitz game, so the blunder checking ritual cannot happen.

Also you are over 1400 and that was not part of gp plan. 😉

Alert move though Nxe5 good game.
