    Hi Morq

"Unfortunately for him, he hadn't seen the forthcoming Queen then
Rook then Bishop sac which spelled doom..."

I'm sure I can find games where a player has blundered away a Queen,
Rook & Bishop and still won.

There's already an assassin piece, different from the pawn, in Stealth Chess.

So close... it's a little below that in both cases. In the first case, a little below in rank; in the second case, the knight rides on top of it 😛

    Hi SB.

There is an Assassin in a Chess Varient but it is a piece.

Think I'll stick with the Assassin Pawn.

It also brings back fond memories of the time I played in an Allegro team
tournament and we called ourselves The Assassins.

In the same tournament there was a juinor section of under 12 year olds.
Most had boring team names revolving around the name of their School.

However one bunch of kids called their team The Knights of Thunder.
That has to be best ever name for a chess team.

Back in the early 1990's I was playing on a team in the US Amateur Team Championship (East), and one of the other team names was Searching for Bobbitt's Pisser.

For our non-US players: Lorena Bobbitt was an abused wife who cut off her husband's...pisser... and then drove off in her car and threw it out the window as she drove away. A sensational case at the time.
    .

It won the contest for best name, but Chess Life changed it for publication, as they understandably could not print that.

Were they looking for pieces to chop off?
