Can you think of nine well-known islands or groups of islands
whose names are single words containing no other vowel but A?
The letter A may be used any number of times, but no other
vowel may be used at all. (Count Y as a vowel.)

Bahamas? Technically, “The Bahamas” but then how about Grand Bahama, one of its islands.

Edit. Fails the single word requirement. Phooey.

I can find several which aren't islands, and one which is an island but not well-known.

Marginal, but okay. Four left are better known.

Well... there's Arran and Aran, but those are both equally as marginal as Sark.

I'll add them to the list, but there are still four others out there that are more well-known.

Well, Åland certainly doesn't count. That's an å, not an a. Svalbard?

The Falklands, of course, have an 'i' in their name 😛

Malvinas wouldn't count, but Falklands does. Three to go.

I thought Isle of Man, checked it, and found an alternative name for it is Mann.

The Chatham Islands unfortunately are never referred to as the Chathams. 😠

Man is good. Two more left.

Chatham is okay, but not among the top nine.

We have Bahamas, Japan, Java, Malta, Madagascar, Falklands, and Man.

One of the remaining two is the best known.

None makes the cut.

The two remaining islands have been in more than a few movies and TV films.
