    Anyway, sorry for the digression, but there may be fruit in those why questions, can a why question lead to a 'non-maths question' that needs a maths answer?

    It would be hard to answer this question without giving figures for the elasticity of the trampoline etc.
    But fact remains, it can't be answered without maths, and lends itself to giving 'gut answers' with language.
    I really like that one actually.

    Apples have already come up, I'm trying to avoid questions which are obviously mathematical in nature. I explain better in other posts.
