A man and his dog walk in to a pub. The man asks for a glass of water. The bar-man pulls a gun on him. The man says thank you, and leaves with his dog. Why?

The man was afflicted with a case of hiccups. He intended to cure himself by drinking the water, but the bartender thought a good fright would be a superior cure.
