A friend of mine will marry this weekend and we want to make a little gag (fun) by giving him a chess puzzle to solve. The idea was that the puzzle's solution is to sacrify the queen to mate the opponent. But he should not sacrify his queen/wife anyway, so he will (have to) loose the game.
As we will perform the game/position with (real) persons there should not be too many pieces on the "board", perhaps a smaler 5x5 board is better. The puzzle should be fairly easy as he is not a pro and everyone shpuld follow it and he will solve it (with hints) in one minute or so.
If you have any ideas, suggestions or proposals, please post them here as soon as possible! 🙂
Thanks a lot,
Thomas
My very fist and poor proposal, just look at the upperleft 5x5 squares:
black to move, the queen gets the white pawn, the (black) king gets the queen and then the bishop will mate by moving away 2 squares.
There are many many more solutions, so it's bad. Please help! 🙂
