Does anyone know this riddle...

A man goes hunting and walks 1 mile south of his cabin, where he sees a large bear. He shoots, but misses. He walks one mile east and sees the bear again. He shoots, but misses again. He walks one more mile east, but he doesn't see anything, so he walks one mile back to his cabin. What color is the bear?

I've been trying to figure it out and can't. Will someone help.😳

Try first to find out how it is possible to walk one mile south and 2 miles east and still being one mile from your starting point.

Another thing what might help is that if in a riddle someone asks the color of the bear it's always the same color.
