Does Nd6 represent Knight to d6?

I'm thinking Nd6 refers to neodymium in group 6 of the lanthanoid metals.

If so, might not E refer to Electrons and N neutrons?

Or perhaps E is energy in Newtons?

I'm not sure, bus aside from a fairly obvious chess misdirection, Nd seems to be most consistent with neodymium.

I cannot find any reference to 3.5 in wikipedia though.

Hint. Dungeons and Dragons.

Geep solved it, but not before I put up the hint.
