elevator

a man lives on the 19th floor of an apartment building. everyday, he gets up, takes the elevator downstairs, and goes to work. but when he comes home, he takes the elevator to the 15th floor, and walks the rest of the way up - except on rainy days. on rainy days, he rides all the way to the 19th floor.
besides just being weird, why would the man do this?

He does this because he is a midget and cannot reach the higher floor's buttons. However, on rainy days, he can use his umbrella to reach them.
