Most fits.

I am just assuming that with in the end you mean when the vehicle breaks down. the call for help would then also make sense going away would be possible.

Going for it all still is a long shot,... but....it means you keep driving the car downhils????

The second stanza sounds like a gambling reference, and with the stuff about call at the end I think poker.

I can't get that to fit properly. The only thing that comes to mind is that red = debt, although that's not really a red light.

I thought poker, too.
Call is easy to make fit - matching an oppoents bet in poker is called calling. As for the red light, no ideas.
