"In the final position, the black King must be threatened by a White pawn."

This means that Black need not worry about shorter mates that do not involve a direct pawn check.

That's what I would have wanted to say too, but I could not. Another annoyance is that if you have several King moves on move 5, 11 and 16, you'd have to work out a lot of variations... I suppose the path towards d2/e2 is semi-forced for the Black King and after that all is forced (or maybe totally in the ending the King can choose two squares with two different variations, but I suppose not)

Yes, white to move and mate with the pawn on move six.

I literally copied the description that went with the diagram, to avoid confusion (since I didn't totally understand it as well).
