a farmer is traveling to the market with his chicken, dog and grain. he comes to a river with a boat that will only fit him and one item. if he leaves the dog and chicken together the dog will eat the chicken and if he leaves the chicken and grain together the chicken will eat the grain. How can he get every thing across?

It's a pretty old riddle, but I've heard it with cheese, a mouse and a cat.

I have heard it with a chicken, a bag of seed, and a cat. Just by coincidence I decided to post the same riddle not knowing you just had.
