The stip said how would you 'let' her win, not how would you 'force' her to win. Why the 'confusion'?

Because, if your boss was so bad a player that she reached a position where you almost have to mate her by force (😉), then you'd have to force her to win in order to get the game over. 😵

To make up for the confusion, here a true selfmate puzzle. White plays and forces black to checkmate him in 6 moves.

Actually, I did try it, but got no solution.

My computer didn't either.

Is the diagram and stipulation correct?

How is Qh3 check?

Is this meant to be ... h1N 7.Qf2 Nxf2# ?
But then it is not forced...g2

But who would be dumb enough not to take the queen?

Sorry, you are right. 6. ... h1N 7.Qh3 is not check. But 7. ... Nf2# is the only move for black. He has no choice but to give checkmate.

Ahh, that's why nobody solved it. The stipulation was erroneously given as s#6 when it should have been s#7.

You are absolutely right, my apologies for that. I was fixated on the 6th move because there is the only 'choice' black has.
