How about universal free birth control pills or such.
The way to less population is to control the average birth rate.
It is working maybe too well in Japan, they have an especially high elder population.
But there are many countries not in that boat where birth control would be appropriate.
People are GOING to have sex and there is no control over that but we can control the results.

Lets see, getting folks out of poverty WORLD WIDE.
So here poverty level is about 30K a year, now cut that back in half to sort of take into account the rest of the world, so 15K/ year, times 8 billion works out to about 15 TRILLION dollars a year just for their wages.
Ok, now that you have a Phd in virology, another in political science and now you must have a Phd in economics too.
So how is the world going to come up with that much money EVERY YEAR, not even counting business expenses, insurance, taxes, union dues and the like.
I would assume it would take maybe 3X that 15K to keep the system going so we are closing in on 50 Trillion a year.
So tell me just how we go about doing that little thing?

You are a democrat, but you are too far to the right. You need to realize unregulated capitalism is the problem and it only leads to fascism. Socialism is the answer. You need to go farther to the left. You are too much like a republican. Democrats are just moderate republicans.

I do however think that this article is a bit misleading (not your fault and easy to miss) , but it's a bit like "wow, we have at last managed to do this that and the other with the spike protein".

Don't worry, there WILL be a major correction in human population when climate change cuts off arable land for farms and people around the planet starve to death. THAT will definitely reduce the population,
