Restoring sight is one of the top life changing things you can do for someone.

One cool thing about this technology is that it can potentially allow someone to see in different parts of the spectrum from us normal humans.
Geordi La Forge in star trek demonstrates this idea.

So in the future, the formerly blind may become better at seeing than the rest of us.
