Exposure to harmless Coronavirus helps immunity

Very interesting article, thank you. I have been exposed to covid-19 many times that I know of and undoubtley many more times that I was not aware of. My girlfriend had the virus and I was unable to self distance so that I could take care of her. I have as of yet never caught the virus. When the virus first came out there were reports that your blood type could help prevent you from getting it. I don't hear that reported much anymore. This article states that I could have built up some immunity from other harmless coronaviruses that I was previously exposed to. Would these be the ones on the back of the disinfectant bottles? You may have gotten the virus and were asymptomatic.

Very True. I get tested once a week at work. would the test only detect current covid 19 ? or would it show any previous exposure ? I give blood once every 4 months or so. they used to show me the results for the antibody test but they stopeed doing that a few months ago.

Good on you for giving blood. I think the tests do reveal delta at least, Omicron, not sure. But there will be shortly a test for omicron I would assume.

* There IS a test for the omikron variant, since the genetic code is known. (What that means can probably explained by the world's most eminent virologist (or by a junior high school student who took courses in biology, that would be gymnasiale Oberstufe, where I live).
* AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus, which is not even closely related to Cov-SARS-2. The world’s mots eminent virologist can probably explain how the one turns into the other as profoundly as he explained how the hanipah converted. Or how virus isolation is not what it seems to be. There is a huge difference between someone dying 'from' HIV and someone dying 'with' HIV; just as there is a huge difference between someone dying 'from' COVID and someone dying 'with' COVID.
