Found enough children's cancers statistically analyzed finding some correlation between both single X ray's and multiple X rays on one child showing significant risk of cancer directly due to the X rays diagnosing problems in children.

From one or even a few x rays I don’t think would increase the risk much at all. Not to mention a shield would be held up blocking other areas of the baby. When I was two I was over dosed with radiation and almost died to dissolve my adenoids. I lived on a radioactive island called Johnston atoll after high school, and my thyroid taken out by a radioactive pill in my early 20s from Graves’ disease and I’m still kicking at 58? I did have to get blood test yearly to look for cancer but quit after H.S. and they said it would probably show up in my 30s or 40s but hasn’t?

You lucked out so far. The gist of that piece is children are a lot more susceptible to DNA and other damage from X rays.

My wife is a Neuro-radiologist, she does scans every single day. There is hardly a need to use x-rays anymore, because ultrasound, CT, and magnetic resonance imaging deliver sufficient resolution for most cases. Dental practices, however, are an exception; they will continue to use x-rays, no doubt.

Functional MRI is cutting-edge stuff. They can spot which areas of the brain light up in real time when a word is spoken or intended, even if the person is locked-in. This makes it potentially possible to communicate with someone who cannot move his body at all. "Think of the word 'yes'" and an area of the brain lights up; "Think of the word 'no'" and another area of the brain lights up; "Is your name 'Fred'?" "Is your wife's name 'Josephine'?"-- and they've nailed both 'yes' and 'no.' Then they start asking "Are you in pain? Do you know where you are? Do you want us to stop the life support systems?" etc.

I did one of those functional MRI scans. She said my brain was 'on fire'🙂 I guess that meant a lot of my brain was firing and I saw the scans and my brain was pretty much lit up.
