Would it be possible to make at least some of the sieges banded, because at the moment you wait months to get to the top of the queue only to be soundly thrashed by a player 1000 points higher than yourself (at least I do). It would increase competition markedly and perhaps provide a point to entering to those who don't have a 2000+ rating. By all means keep some non banded so that lower rated players can challenge and provide an entertaining upset, but a few would give it some meaning to the less talented amongst us.

But we do need to be very careful. a potential difficulty is that a strong player will end up owning the siege forever unless the siege is constructed sensibly.
best is to change the order of the queue ... instead of having the oldest entrant in the queue play the next game, the next player should be chosen by a different method:
to make a siege for players around 1400 ... the next player should be the player in the queue with a rating closest to the rating of the siege defender but slightly towards 1400.
for a 1400 siege example:
imagine 10 players in the queue rated 1200 1300 1400 1500 1600 1700 1800 1900 2000 and 2100.
suppose the defender is rated 1650.
then the challenger would be the 1600 player. This player has a fairly good chance to defeat the 1650 defender, and will also cause the rating of the defender to slowly step back towards 1400.
it would be interesting to see who owns a 3000 siege!
I think thats probably too complicated to do, and would mean potentialy waiting in a queue forever to make the defenders rating match yours. I think maybe a limit of 100 points more than the band for the siege should be imposed at the start of every game, so that if the defender is in a 1400 siege and reaches 1500, he relinquishes the board even if he wins and then the next two players in the queue take over.
