Why are there so many sub forums? In my opinion, the following forums should be merged to inject more diversity in posters and into topics and conversations:

Culture, Posers and Puzzles and General
Debates, Science and Spirituality

I totally agree. I've asked for this several times but there seems to be no interest. I'd add Culture and Science to the General group as well. You can't have Science in the same box as Spirituality, that just gives the creationist lot an excuse to spam Science threads. Multiple forums were OK before clubs, but any number of specialist forums can be made available there, for example a Science Forum club or a Spirituality Forum club.

'Science and spirituality', are you serious...you'd end up with just two guys hell bent upon 'preaching' their views, everyone else would give up and go elsewhere....but WHERE else exactly, if you propose to merge them all together ?
If you don;t believe this would happen then go and have a wander into 'clans' public forum, it used to be a vibrant easy going forum with multitudes of posters...I bet there are no more than SIX regulars in there now, constantly threatened with having the forum shut down because the same old views are 'contested' to the point of insult...the multitudes of posters just gave up visiting !!

😞 The last thing I want is to have to fish out puzzles from the morass of the General Forum. Having lots of contributors is overrated anyway.

Pardon my insolence, but this idea is just dumb.

More choice is better, not less.

Why is more diversity in posters necessary? Those posters in certain forums are there because they're interested in the topics. Cramming a bunch of people into one room does not foster more conversation between them. The same people will continue to gravitate to the same topics, only with the unwelcome addition of trolls.

Please don't "fix" what ain't broken.

No interest is no interest.

Why continue to beat a dead horse?

Just because *you* want it doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Shoving topics off into their own specialist clubs only results in no one except those club members seeing the conversations. Silencing free speech is never a good idea.

If you are interested in killing RHP then go ahead and do what these people suggest. These forums are a unique aspect of this web site, and a hell of a lot better than most other forums on other web sites. Some people are brought here by the chess and stay for the forums. Others are brought here by the forums and stay for the chess. Don't ruin both groups, and the entire site in the process, by ruining the forums.

Again, please don't fix what is NOT broken!

Yes.

It only results in people posting to topics they're not really interested in and creating more troll posts in the process.

Not to mention people feeling they're not being heard in the cacophony and so just giving up and going elsewhere.

Limiting choice limits quality.
