I tried to put together sponsored tournaments, one for subs, one for non-subs.

It appears that either money, or subscriptions are both totally out of the question for prizes, due to possible cheating, thus making any kind of tournament pretty much nul and void.

Does anyone have any suggestions for sponsoring a tournamet that has any balls to it ??

T-shirts seem to be the only suitable prize.

People have offered books, DVDs, chess engines, etc...

How about a book of winnie the pooh or something like that?

Yeah, that would be great, but i don't think the uptake would be great.

I Messaged russ after a convo with Xanthos about sponsoring tournaments, but it seems that its not really possible to offer something worth playing for. I suppose a chess Game is a possible, but a years sub just sounded like it'd create a buzz, unfortunately its not possible.
It makes you wonder what th epoint is of doing it atall.

Hey, I'll sponsor a Ladies tournament, the prize being a weekend with me...

EDIT: On second thoughts... Nah, there'll be too many entrants, it'll take ages to get set up, and I don't want to overload the server. Besides, if I spend a weekend playing with a Real Lady, I'll get timed out in some of my games....

EDIT 2: And XanthosNZ'll probably win anyway...
