This is probably impractical, but maybe we could have some form of "official thread monitors" if we don't already have them in some form. Members could be "nominated" or selected for the designation.
I think these "hall monitors" should be able to permanently take threads out of existence or lock them from further entries. This might just quiet some of the senseless noise that we get in some posts.
