It's interesting that the animals chosen by Pink Floyd for songs on their Animals album were pigs, dogs and sheep. Archetypes, perhaps.

There have been numerous suggestions for other books that could have made the list, and Animal Farm is as good as any other.

I agree. I think Orwell's satire "Animal Farm" would be a good addition to the list.
