Well, I choose Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, George Soros and Larry Flint as our entry for "atheist team with the green".

    Apparently.

Flynt writes "I have left my religious conversion behind and settled into a comfortable state of atheism" in the epilogue of his autobiography An Unseemly Man: My Life As A Pornographer, Pundit And Social Outcast by Larry Flynt and Kenneth Ross (1996) ISBN 0-7871-1143-0

Ah. That's kinda cool, but given that it's Larry Flynt, not really.

The website above lists the percentage of agnostics/atheists in the US as being between 3 and 9 percent. If we take the lower figure that equals some 8.8 million people. The higher figure comes out to a whopping 27 million. Personally, I think the figure is probably closer to the 9 percent mark, but that it typically goes underreported. There are many atheists who are afraid to 'come out of the closet.' Those who report themselves as being 'nonreligious' on surveys goes as high as 14 percent. That would figure out to some 42 million people.

And don't discount the people who treat their religion as part of their tradition or culture. A lot of atheist Jews for example would still report themselves as being Jewish and the same goes for a lot of Atheist - Christians.

I was just giving a somewhat conservative estimate that way no one could accuse me of having bad numbers. Thanks though. 🙂
