Attending to one's affairs before death

Spirituality

Do [1] a belief in the afterlife and [2] a lack of belief in the afterlife have any effect on the motivation, before dying, to attend to those matters - legal, financial, personal - that might continue to have a posthumous impact on loved ones, neighbours, colleagues etc.?

One certainly won't be attending to their affairs after death.

Well, neither the believer nor the non-believer will be attending to their mundane and earthly affairs after they die, so the-first-thing-that-came-into-your-head has not been much of a first contribution to this thread.

A genuine attempt by you to address topics would be more interesting than your frequent displays of confidence in your own banter.

Well, it got a reaction out of you didn't it? Just thought I'd state the obvious, Mr. Obvious.

Where did the word "mundane" come from?

Yes. I reacted by basically telling you that with a lot of your posts you sell yourself short.

It's an adjective meaning "of this earthly world" or "commonplace concerns of day-to-day life" as opposed to anything of a heavenly or spiritual nature.

Are you kidding? I try to stay on topic, but you end up doing what you're doing now, and that is to jump all over something other than the topic. I say one little sentence, and here we are again arguing about what you think is wrong with me for saying it.

You're like the kid with all the toys, and as soon as another kid tries to touch one you grab it back and exclaim, "MINE"!

Thank you for your vote of confidence. You don't know how much that means to me.

As you know, neither the believer nor the non-believer will be.

Do you have anything to offer on this thread's topic?

Yes, I know that. It just seemed out of place since attending to ones affairs before dying is a serious matter, or can be.

Depending on how much money one leaves behind.

We were just getting the ball rolling, but now my interest is waning.

Yes, I know that Mr. Seriouser-than-thou. 😁

Yes, get your act together before you die!

They are mundane matters. Just because some people use the adjective "mundane" as a synonym for "boring" is irrelevant, if that's what you had in mind. Using "mundane" as a synonym for not serious is not something I have come across too much. And certainly not in the context of this thread's topic.
