Sorry. Didn't mean to go off track.

In my opinion it's not a question of the kind or type of weapon used to kill. It's a question of whether or not the killing is justifiable.
Mass killing is never justifiable.

So the use of any method of weaponry is morally acceptable to kill with, as long as the reason to kill is justified? Ok.

But would it have been morally better for the US to invade japan and use conventional weapons to subdue it rather than nuclear?

What is “mass killing” in context of this assertion?

It’s ok if you don’t want to answer my question.

I thought I did. My reply was in relation to the OP.

Recap:

1. Thread is concerning nuclear weapons.
2. Secondson posts - 'In my opinion, it's not a question of the kind or type of weapon used to kill. It's a question of whether or not the killing is justifiable.'
3. I respond. - 'Mass killing is never justifiable.'

Why are you pretending you have answered my question about how you define “mass killing”?

You don’t have to answer my question if you don’t want to.

And if you like you can barb your deflection with an insult.

Ok, I'll try and think of a good one.

In the meantime, multiple deaths as a result of a nuclear bomb is something I would qualify as a 'mass killing' and something totally in keeping with this particular thread.

What else did you think I meant?!

Mass murder, yes, but can you think of any reason when killing in-mass would be justifiable?

At what cost? Millions of more lives?

I'm glad I don't make the war game rules. Somebody made the decision to drop the bombs and justified it before I was even born. I can't imagine what it must be like to be in that position.

At best I can only imagine being in the position of flying the bomber and obeying orders. I think I would have conscientiously objected to that particular mission. They'd have to find someone else to do it.

Thanks for the history lesson. 😏

Since then it seems no one else has had a justifiable reason to do it again. But just in case they stockpiled enough nuclear bombs to incinerate the earth ten times over.

It's insane.
