Being "right w/ Jesus" v political scumbaggery

Spirituality

To what extent, and in what ways, can political scumbaggery manifest itself in the behaviour of someone who claims to be "right with Jesus" before it becomes obvious that such claims are manifestly false?

To a large extent and as many ways as there are to communicate. "Scumbaggery" is a polite term for what these people do.

Maybe yes, and maybe no, but it's my way. The concept that "God is on our side" has been used for centuries as justification for many misdeeds.

"I think Herschell Walker is the most important Senate candidate in the country because he'll do more to change the Senate just by the sheer presence, by his confidence, by his deep commitment to Christ, by the degree to which he has -- you know, he's been through a long, tough period." ~ Newt Gingrich.

In America, being Right with Jesus means being White with Jesus.
